As tempting as it is to file a hail damage claim and then keep the money, you will not be doing yourselves any favors later on. The biggest reason we suggest you DO get your hail damage repaired is paint damage. If the hail stones has broken or fractured the paint in any way, the paint will eventually start to flake off, and leaving the vehicle panels susceptible to rusting. This can quickly become a serious problem. If this happens, you will never be able to get the repairs performed using the Paintless Dent Repair method. If you haven’t any concerns with how your car looks “aesthetically” or you plan on driving the hail damaged vehicle until it’s eminent death, you don’t have a problem. BUT, if you DO have plans to sell or trade-in your vehicle in the future and plan on using the money to either buy a new or different car, you may not get very far.
Another reason to get your hail damaged repaired is because, if the vehicle gets caught in another hail storm and suffers any damage – you will have a very hard time getting your insurance company to pay for the 2nd round of damages without deducting the 1st round of damages and yet another deductible.
In other words, you cannot make a 2nd claim for the same unrepaired damage when the next hailstorm hits. That could be attempting to profit and could be fraudulent. Also, the prior claim can be retrieved and reviewed to see if prior damage was repaired.
